Describing Yoga Strap And Its Comfy Poses

What is it about yoga that it sets it apart from other workouts? I guess we all know the answer to this one. Its meditation and breathing control. But very few people are aware about yoga accessories. A beginner needs to gain flexibility for performing yoga and yoga strap will support body muscles for better stretching. Even for some of the basic yoga poses, the strap needs to be employed to prevent any chances of injury.

Yoga strap specifications

The standard size of a yoga strap is between 1.8 to 2.7 meters and they are usually made of hemp or cotton fabric. Obviously, the longer straps are made for taller individuals. However, a 6 foot belt is enough for most yoga students. Another distinguishing or essential feature is the presence of a buckle in the yoga strap. This might be needed for connecting the two ends which might be a requirement in some poses.

For instance, there are certain yoga asanas in which the hands have to be adjusted at the back in different positions. For a beginner, such poses are hard to maintain but the strap can hold the hands in a comfortable position while keeping them a good distance apart.

Poses for yoga strap

Certain yoga asanas are more challenging than others for both beginners and intermediate level students who need to gain flexibility. A forward sitting bend in which the back of the performer should remain straight is pretty difficult. The strap will allow the performer to adjust the positions. In this particular pose, the strap encircles the middle of the feet which facilitates the performer to bend with a straight back.

People with tighter hamstrings have a difficulty in doing a sitting forward bend. The yoga strap simplifies the stretch. The strap encircles both feet and the performer holds the open ends of the strap. Gradually, flexibility will improve and the yoga student will be able to perform this stretch without the strap and move forward to advanced poses.
